The new VIRGIN STEELE Album is truly on schedule! David is literally one day away from completing all mixing and mastering, and I can now honestly tell you with complete confidence that it will be out in September. The name of the album is to be...VISIONS OF EDEN, and it is quite Epic. It is I believe the Group's longest album to date, clocking in at 79 minutes and 57 seconds. We hope you will enjoy it. Please kindly understand that we truly are seriously disappointed that we can not participate in the BANG YOUR HEAD & NUMMIROCK Festivals with you this year. Without going into detail, one of the main problems that we face in regards to appearing there is David must undergo tests and procedures that week (as Mark Gorman announced earlier). We however do not intend to leave that situation unfinished or unattended. We do hope to rectify these cancellations and hopefully somewhat make up for our absence at The BANG YOUR HEAD Festival, by headlining The KEEP IT TRUE FESTIVAL in Germany on November 5th. We will also arrange for a special concert in Finland to address our cancellation of Nummirock. We know that many of you are disappointed that we won't be there ... We are also very disappointed, but as you have come to know, we will always go that extra mile for you, and we will come back ... stronger than ever! We thank you ALL for your understanding, your patience, your faith, belief, and support, and we look forward to seeing you ALL again very soon...

VIRGIN STEELE'S appearance at the BANG YOUR HEAD FESTIVAL & NUMMIROC FESTIVAL cancelled:
While undergoing a medical exam to discover the source of a severe, persistent pain, additional serious health issues were discovered that need attention, and it has been suggested by medical authorities that David DeFeis undergo further testing and treatment procedures. Since time is of the essence and these procedures will be ongoing, (several are scheduled for the week of these Festivals), therefore it is with a heavy heart and sincere regret that we must unfortunately announce to you that the Group must bow out of these two engagements. We thank you all for your understanding and patience, and we assure you that the Band will be back onstage with you all once again shortly...

VIRGIN STEELE are back in the Studio completing the final recordings and mixes on David DeFeis' "Barbaric-Romantic Movie Of The Mind" ..... the "LILITH" soundtrack. All is going quite well, and apparently there is enough music recorded for at least two CD's. No word yet as to if this Work will be released as a single, or a double CD set. In addition to the recordings for LILITH, the group is also working on another collection of songs based on ... "the end of the world". In still yet another project, David & Edward are working on an album of acoustic songs. I attended one of their "Acoustic" rehearsals ... it was one of the loudest performances I've heard in quite some time! Meanwhile the "LILITH OPERA" starts up again for another round of performances on NEW YEARS EVE. All dates to be posted shortly. As regards the video/DVD project it is still in the works for the coming year, along with a live album. What will be released first ... I have no idea!!! But stay tuned ... I will find out! Contrary to any rumours the Band is still all in one piece, with the same lineup. David DeFeis, Edward Pursino, Frank Gilchriest and Josh Block are preparing for the up coming GREEK Concerts as well as several other dates. Apparently David DeFeis, is not the only workaholic in the group. Drummer extraordinaire Frank Gilchriest, has also been quite busy lately. He's been helping various friends out by doing session work on recordings with Riot, Gothic Knights & Holy Mother among others. And in addition both David and Frank took time out recently to play a rare 'one off' surprise Blues/'cover' gig together. This gig also featured Pete from Riot on bass, and Tommy from Holy Mother on guitar. That's all for now. See you again soon.

David DeFeis has completed over 40 pieces of Music for this Work. He has recorded and sent over to the Theatre for the upcoming performances 11 (eleven) Instrumental Pieces and 18 (eighteen) Songs. Hopefully the majority of these compositions will actually be heard in the final outcome of the Theatre's Presentation!
These Works, plus all the others not used but already prepared, make enough material for perhaps the next 3 or 4 VIRGIN STEELE albums, and in addition to this music, David tells us that bedsides these works, he has many more songs in various stages of completion! This past Winter has been incredibly prolific for him! Some titles we were allowed to hear were: "WHEN GODS DREAM(RAGING LUST IN HEAVEN)", "AND IN THE RED SEA...", "THE HIDDEN GOD", "ADORNED WITH THE RISING COBRA" (which is a massive Epic!), "IN THE PRISON OF YOUR SLEEP", "THE INEFFABLE NAME", "ANGEL OF DEATH" and "CHILDSLAYER".

We believe these works to be epic, bombastic and totally full on Metal, sort of like Conan the Barbarian meets Wagner in a dark gothic cave! Several tracks contain a very eerie, dark haunting quality that would be very much at home in a Horror Movie such as "The Omen", "The Ninth Gate" or "The Exorcist" ... ! All are extremely heavy, moody and melodic. It is music to accompany either the Ending of the World, the Birthing of a New World or both!!! The Works we heard feature David playing all of the instruments, orchestrations and vocals. We sincerely hope these songs make their way onto a CD soon, as it is our belief that these are some of the finest compositions ever to emerge from him.

When we asked David about this "Metal-Opera", he told us: "I don't think of it as a Metal-Opera. What it really is, ... is the Soundtrack for a Major Motion Picture that has yet to be made! And By The Fucking Hammer Of Zeus .... I will make this film one day!!!" He calls this Work ..."A Barbaric-Romantic Movie Of The Mind".
The Premier in Memmingen/Germany will take place on June 24th 2003, with many more dates following. And do not forget VIRGIN STEELE will be appearing live at "THE SUMMER DAY IN HELL FESTIVAL" in Italy on June 28th, and the AGGLUTINATION FESTIVAL on August 9th also in Italy.
